The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself. LOVED this show. It’s about a young man named Nathan Byrne who is the son of a notorious witch that is responsible for a horrible massacre (in the past). He’s born to two warring bloodlines the Fairborn witches and the Blood witches. He also is waiting for the day to get his powers. A conflict between the Fairborns and Blood witches gets worse and Nathan is suddenly the target of a witch hunt. He escapes with a fellow best friend of his Annalise and another witch Gabriel (the best character on the show) who is in charge of taking him to another witch to help get Nathan his powers. Loved the cast. Jay Lycurgo is a perfect Nathan, he plays wanting to be accepted by his community very well. You can see the hurt and the self hatred. I adored Nadia Parkes as Annalise (she has awesome powers) she’s a ‘love interest’ as well as Nathan’s close friend. Last but definitely not least, Emilien Vekemans who plays Gabriel. Gabriel is probably my favorite because he has a similar look to Spike from “Buffy” and he’s a loner alchemist with bad luck in the romance department. Along with Nathan trying to discover himself, Gabriel does as well. Great cast, great effects, positive POC and Queer representation. The show is based on a popular fantasy novel called Half Bad by Sally Green. Only 8 episodes, it’s on Netflix. Unfortunately it was recently cancelled, I was devastated. It’s confusing because it seemed to have positive reviews so I’m not sure why it was cancelled yet other terrible shows aren’t. I do highly recommend watching it.

Bilan musical 2022 : 100 titres

-- la brume mordorée s’élevant sur les reflets dansants d’une eau calme, un matin où le son porte bien : c'est My Father In Hong Kong (toujours un plaisir de prendre des nouvelles de Gold Panda, sirène solitaire dans l'océan electro qui travaille l'harmonie en modifiant la tonique, à intervalles, au lieu de fonctionner par aplats de chants/contrechants successifs) ;

-- les miaulements d’Amaraae sur Feel A Way, qui me rappelaient opportunément que çà fait tellement longtemps que je n’ai pas fait de sexe, que je suis probablement redevenue vierge entre temps ;

-- Roisin Murphy et sa deep house grandiloquente (We Get Together !), et ce moment où je fonçais tranquillement à 130 sur l’A13 et où, en approchant du tunnel de Saint-Cloud, contre toute attente, le gars qui roulait loin derrière moi, sur la file de gauche, m’a gentiment fait un appel de phares pour me prévenir du radar (ami conducteur, où que tu sois, je te salue et je te souhaite des plaquettes de frein aussi neuves que les miennes) ;

-- la Jeanette que Kelly Lee Owens a dû composer pour une petite fille, tellement j’y entends cette qualité perdue depuis longtemps, et que je chéris chaque fois que je la retrouve chez un artiste : la candeur (alors pourquoi j'ai l'impression qu'elle l'a composée pour ma voiture ?) ;

-- et tout en haut du podium : Fashionista des Chai, en parfaite résonance avec les pistons de ma voiture tricotant le kilométrage à toute allure, dans une synchronie à deux temps avec la pulsation de mon propre cœur – une blanche pour moi, une triple croche pour eux – et je n'ai pas d'images plus juste ni plus succincte de l’osmose vécue l’année dernière avec ma voiture, femelle centaure que j’étais devenue à rouler quatre heures par jour, seule usagère du Périph à prendre encore son pied au stade terminal de l’embouteillage – seule conductrice à avoir la banane d’une oreille à l’autre, de la Porte d'Auteuil à la Porte de Vincennes ;

tldr: can you cat sense chan's fear? (early relationship!chan) a/n: i love him so bad, ur honor.

chan liked your cat. he thought the cat was cute and he seemed quite sweet when you interacted with him. that isn’t the problem. your cat just didn’t like chan. he has tried over and over to get the cat to open up to him. he’s asked his friends with cats what to do, read articles online about how to introduce himself to the cat, and even watched youtube videos, practicing his ‘friendly crouch’ in his bedroom mirror. all his efforts seemed fruitless. every time he came over to your apartment, your cat ran and hid from him. the small animal cowered behind you in his presence. ducking behind your legs and not allowing chan to lay a single finger on him. maybe he could sense that chan always liked dogs better. 

it never bothered you that your cat hated chan, his words, not yours. in fact, you insisted that he did not hate chan, he just needed more time to warm up to the new man in your life. after all, your cat had been the only guy in your life up until eight months ago when you moved into your current apartment. that's how you and chan met. you were moving into chan’s building and he offered to help you move some boxes. you and chan had been official for the last six months and your cat still cannot stand the sight of him. 

your cat is all he can think about as he walks down the hallway of your shared building, headed for another movie night at your place. despite the uncomfortable cat situation, it was easier to spend time at your place, seeing as you had no roommates and chan had two. and as much as he loved vernon and seungkwan, a romantic movie night was better without them. 

he stands in front of your door and knocks. he’s sure at this point he could probably just let himself in, especially since you shared the code to your door with him a few weeks ago, but it feels impolite so he patiently waits for you to open the door. as he waits he thinks again of your cat. what exactly was it that the poor animal hated so much about chan? did he do something? was it a vibe? or maybe it was–

the door swung open and your head appeared in the gap, “hi!” you pulled the door open wider, inviting chan into your space, “come in. I’m almost done preparing the snacks.” you greeted chan with a chaste kiss, then turned and walked deeper into the apartment, chan followed behind you, listening for the tell-tale sounds of a bell on a collar and tiny nails striking the hardwood. 

when you finally reach your kitchen, chan saw the cat. he was asleep in his bed, curled up, looking relaxed. this was all bound to end as soon as he woke up and saw chan. then he’d go running in the opposite direction from wherever chan was. 

“channie?” your soft voice interrupted his thoughts. he turned to you, “can you help me carry these snacks to the living room? we can put them on the coffee table.”

you smiled wide, “i told you he liked you, channie. he just needed time to see how great you are.” your head tipped back onto his shoulder, settling back in to finish the movie. 

chan reached an experimental hand down to pet the cat’s head. he took the increased purring as a good sign. “i think you’re great too, pretty.” chan could get used to this. dogs are overrated anyway.

Calcifer is just so mischievous you know? (And dramatic but anyways) He's loud playful and just fun to be around 🤷🏻‍♀️ Calcifer is honestly like my favorite studi ghibli character ever.

I think he's also just really loyal. He can be super chaotic at times but when it comes to your time of need he'll be right by your side.

Like in the beginning of the movie, I don't think calcifer liked Sophie that much, and was always messing with her. But when she and howl were in danger he tried his best to help in any way he could.

Taehyun - Jiji (Kikis delivery service)

I mean Jiji is a cat so... do I really have to day anything more?

Jiji is probably one of the most down to earth and honest characters in studio ghibli.

He makes a great companion, great friend, and great advice giver. (Also super sarcastic but you know-)

He's the type to be super honest with you and tell you straight up if you've done something stupid. But that also makes him an amazing advice giver. Hence, leading to a great friendship 👍

Hueningkai - Sosuke (Ponyo)

I don't know how to explain this one 🙃

Sosuke is like this little ball of energy. Always curious and super energetic. He also has a huge imagination!

Throughout the movie I feel like Sosuke didn't really know what was going on, but he knew his friend needed help and was willing to do anything for them.

So huening might be clueless/ innocent at times, but he'd be willing to put himself at risk for you.

Honestly a very good show. The show is in Portuguese but there are dub/sub. Very entertaining. If you like dystopian elements with people struggling to live this is the show for you. Only four seasons and it’s on Netflix.

Sometime probably more than a decade ago, @pea-green and I had a Week of Centrifuges and TARDISes, where we marathoned Doctor Who and ReGenesis and she drew a cute illustration of it. This visit became an Agatha Christie marathon plus a spooky-themed escape room, plus also we watched Kiki's Delivery Service (a very good film I had not seen before). I decided to illustrate it in style.

(   evan mock  .  cis man  .  he/they  )       —       blasting  cool-doug, at night  by  sammy rae & the friends  down  main  street  we’ve  spotted  KIERAN “KIKI” AQUINO  sporting  their  pearl earring & pink buzzcut.  the  seventy-two (appears twenty-seven)  year  old  VAMPIRE  who’s  been  in  town  for  six years  often  can  be  seen  driving around town with rolled-down windows, crying during sad scenes in movies, trying new recipes,  or  working  as  an  SURGEON  at  PORTUM GENERAL.  people  say  they  display  good-humored  and  irreverent traits,  but  we  rather  trust  their  vibes:  the scent of salted ocean air, knowing that the sun is there even if you cannot see it, hearing someone whistle a song you forgot the name of, a dog running with a stick of dynamite between its teeth.  also,  we’ve  heard  they  love  SURFING, DISCO, & BIRDS !   aren’t  they  fascinating ?   

biography .

kieran is born in 1952 to two older parents who had, in their retirement, finally followed their dreams to move away from rigorous city living to a small coastal town in southern australia. his parents had all but given up on having children, and kieran's birth was a surprise, but not an unwelcome one. kieran ( better known as “kiki” ) had a happy upbringing, awash with love. it soon became apparent that he was a surfing prodigy. by the age of ten, he was competing in national competitions, winning multiple junior titles in the late 60s & early 70s. he disappeared from the sport in his mid-twenties, something that was seen as a shame but not too deeply investigated. most attributed his early retirement to an injury he sustained during a competition ( or out of it ). in reality, he fell in love with a merman @highertides. after realizing that his boyfriend was indeed immortal, not one to be outdone by fate, kiki went and got himself turned into a vampire. voluntarily. ah, young love.

extras .

has been in a committed relationship with his husband ( rui aquino ) for the last fifty years !!

while not entirely reckless, he's not opposed to taking risks. he doesn't often let his thoughts spiral, instead choosing to act first and deal with the consequences.

athletic & active ! still surfs at the crack of dawn and has probably run marathons before.

gets along with kids — maybe because he still is one at heart. lies to them about how old he is and where he is from. there are kids running around portum who think he’s a 500 year old vampire pirate.

was a part of melbourne's counterculture in the 70's.

on that note. lies for fun !! but it’s rarely malicious. very lame sense of humor. finds himself funny.

owns two caiques: razor and scooter. owns some pet fish as well.

this isn’t his first time in portum. he also briefly lived in town sometime in the 80’s(?), but left after a bit. probably to travel.

being a surgeon isn’t his first career path. only the truly bizarre and immortal would find med school to be a side quest, but that’s what being a surgeon is for him. it’s something he enjoys and finds interesting.

wanted connections .

SIRE . he would have been turned ~45 years ago (in 1979). not looking for anything super weighty or angsty here. while i’m more than open to a past negative relationship, maybe they have a mutual understanding now and kiki is more or less just an annoyance. or, maybe their relationship has more or less been positive for the past few decades, and your muse felt that it was refreshing that someone wanted the bite for a “pure” reason as opposed to wealth or power.

IMPRINT . people he’s taken under his wing !! i was mainly thinking younger vampires, but it could be other supernaturals. we could work out the particulars, but i feel like he’s the type to accumulate strays 😭

A LONG WAY BACK . long-term connections and/or people he’s met outside of portum !!

GROWING PAINS . a mentor/guide of sorts; someone older than kiki (90+) who's been someone he has confided in throughout the years. while kiki did consider the ramifications of being 27 forever, it's one thing to think you'll know what it's like and another to actually be faced with the reality of outliving friends, family, and the culture you grew up in.

+ super willing to brainstorm !!

March 14th: Aire Libre will be hosting an all day Japanese movie marathon in celebration of Japan’s White Day, a reverse Valentine’s Day where women generally buy gifts and show grand romantic gestures toward their partners.

10 AM: Asako I & II — Asako, una joven que vive en Osaka, experimenta el amor a primera vista cuando se encuentra con Baku. 1 PM: Kimi no na wa — Dos adolescentes comparten una conexión profunda y mágica al descubrir que están intercambiando cuerpos. 4 PM: Shall We Dance? — El exitoso contador Shohei Sugiyama tiene una esposa amorosa y una hermosa hija, pero por alguna razón se siente insatisfecho con su vida. 7 PM: Your Eyes Tell — Rui es un ex-kickboxer que se encuentra a Akari, una chica ciega. 10 PM: Majo no Takkyūbin — Kiki, de 13 años, se muda a una ciudad costera con su gato parlante, Jiji, para pasar un año sola, de acuerdo con la tradición de su pueblo para las brujas en entrenamiento.

March 15th-17th: With City Hall's assistance, Isidora is hosting the 36th Fiesta de la Vendimia, the Grape Harvest Festival!  It starts each day from 10 AM - 8 PM.  There will be a variety of events to celebrate high quality grapes, delicious wine, and the community around you.  Come enjoy fun games (like sack racing or grape stomping competition), beautiful sights (such as art provided by local artists and the grape maze), the llama petting zoo, and more! 

March 30th: Inherited Escape is hosting a book club from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. The book of the month is Pride & Prejudice, a personal favorite of the owner, Oliver Alaya. You do not have to have the book finished ( or read ) in order to come and participate! Snacks and beverages will be provided. Quilpué Activities

March 1st: Gimnasio O2 Aire is rolling out a new exercise program, and they’re looking for 10 dedicated people to help prove the program’s effectiveness.  You’ll meet Wednesday - Sunday from 6 AM - 7:30 AM for a private group session for 30 days.  Included is a nutritionist consultation, new work-out clothes with the Gimnasio O2 Aire brand, and a floral yoga mat.

March 8th: The Plants and Pants Swap was created by a local Chilean influencer who wanted to emphasize reusing clothes rather than throwing them away in landfills, and they’re hosting the swap again on Sunday from 1 PM - 6 PM in El Jardín.  Bring clothes or plants to trade with others!  Nothing will be sold or bought; only trades.

March 19th-24th: Caos Tattoos is proud to host 2 guest artists: @skars__, a neotraditional artist from Mexico City, and @tayeh_studio, a fine line and microrealism artist from Bogotá!  Please reach out to the artists through their instagram or email the Caos team at caos_tattoos@gmail.cl to schedule with them.  Appointments only for guest artists; no walk-ins.

March 21st: If you’re a new player still learning the ropes, or if you’ve always been interested but never knew where to get started, come to Casa Dragones’ D&D Newbie Night from 6 PM - 11 PM! There will be several tables with experienced dungeon masters ready to help you have the time of your life as a 3rd level character in uniquely fun oneshots!  Space is limited so please sign up online!

March 29th: Sabor 24 Horas is hosting a karaoke night from 9 PM - 3 AM and it is BYOB.  For tonight only, guessing the staff’s favorite song of the week will also give you the opportunity to request for whatever you want that’s not on the menu.

Valparaíso Activities

March 3rd: Chasing Suns and Rescue Mission have teamed up with the Valparaíso Centro Médico for a Mental Health Marathon to help raise awareness about mental health and help raise funds for local nonprofits and programs that provide mental health services to the community.  If you’d like to participate and donate, please contact chasing-suns@hotmail.cl.  If you’d like to volunteer, please email rescate@gmail.cl. 

March 31st: Cerro Barrón Street Market is hosting an Oddities Market from 5 PM - 11 PM.  All vendors will be selling items that align with the theme of oddities.  Expect to see exotic pets, cursed objects, macabre paintings, and unique knick knacks.

Viña del Mar Activities

March 7th: It is International Book Day, and what better way to spend it than at a free children’s book reading event hosted by Palacio Rioja. From 4 PM - 7 PM, there will be several story times by guest readers, arts and crafts where students can draw their favorite scenes from the books being read, as well as several important age-appropriate discussions based on the book themes ( bullying and self-acceptance ).

March 28th: Meet the drag kings of the Valparaíso Region at the Kings of Valparadise Show hosted by Club Divine! From 8 PM - 10 PM, celebrate drag, dance, and performance with a themed cocktail in hand!
